Two spreadsheet questions, answered fast
Spreadsheets run a lot of digital work: client trackers, remittance logs, expense sheets, order lists. Two small questions come up again and again. What number is column BB? And how many times does a value appear in a column? This tool answers both in seconds, so you can write the right formula the first time.
How to use it
On the first tab, type column letters to get the number, or type a number to get the letters. You can also count how many columns sit between two letters, counting both ends. On the second tab, paste one column copied from Excel or Google Sheets. You get the total, blanks, distinct values, duplicates, a frequency table, and a ready COUNTIF formula for any value you click.
Common formulas
- =COUNTA(BB:BB) counts all non-empty cells in column BB.
- =COUNTIF(BB:BB,"GCash") counts cells equal to GCash.
- =COUNTBLANK(BB2:BB500) counts empty cells in a range.
- =SUMPRODUCT(1/COUNTIF(BB2:BB500,BB2:BB500)) counts unique values when the range has no blanks.
For clean results, trim spaces and keep spelling consistent. “GCash” and “Gcash ” are different values unless you tick the trim and case options. Pair this with the case converter to tidy a list first.
