Gregorian ↔ Hijri date converter

Convert Hijri dates to Gregorian and back, using the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar or the civil calendar.

Calendar results can differ by a day from what your embassy, employer, or mosque announces. Ramadan, Eid, and other observances depend on moon sighting. For legal or document deadlines, confirm with the issuing office.

Why OFWs in the Gulf need a Hijri converter

If you work in Saudi Arabia or another Gulf country, Hijri dates show up in places that matter: iqama and visa expiry, employment contracts, company memos, and government forms. Many documents print both dates side by side, but not all of them do. This converter lets you check any date in seconds so you can plan renewals, count your service years, or line up a deadline with your Philippine calendar.

The Hijri year has 12 lunar months and is about 354 or 355 days long, roughly 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year. That is why the same Hijri date lands on a different Gregorian date every year, and why a quick mental conversion usually goes wrong.

Umm al-Qura or civil calendar?

Saudi Arabia uses the Umm al-Qura calendar for official and civil dates, so it is the default here. The civil option follows a fixed arithmetic pattern. The two agree most of the time and can differ by a day or two, so use Umm al-Qura for anything tied to a Saudi document.

How to use it

Choose the calendar, then pick a tab. To convert a Gregorian date, select it and press the button. To convert a Hijri date, choose the day, month, and year in AH, then press the button. Your result shows the converted date and the day of the week. Pair it with the date difference calculator to count days to an expiry, or the work experience calculator for service years.

Questions

Is this the same as the Saudi Hijri calendar?
Choose Umm al-Qura, the calendar Saudi Arabia uses for official and civil dates. The civil option is a fixed arithmetic calendar and can differ by a day or two.
Why does my iqama or contract show a different date?
Documents may use the Umm al-Qura calendar, the civil calendar, or a Gregorian date printed beside the Hijri one. A one-day gap is normal. Check the date printed on the document or your Absher record.
Can this tell me the exact start of Ramadan or Eid?
No. Religious observances depend on moon sighting and local announcements, so the real date can differ from a calendar calculation by a day.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved.
